Toridango is Japanese for chicken meatball (tori = chiken, dango = ball). Please use your favorite vegetables and take care of your body! This is a great, healthy recipe if you’re on a diet (or not!).

Ingredients (for meatballs)
- 1/2 lb ground chicken
- 1/3 cup onion (chopped)
- 1/3 cup green onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp ginger (ground)
Spices (for meatballs)
- 1/2 tbsp sake
- 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp katakuriko
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- dash of salt
Ingredients (for soup)
- 1 cup carrots (thick chopped)
- 3/4 lb daikon (thick slice chopped)
- 15 spinach leaves (with stems, chopped into 2″ pieces)
- 3 bok choy (chopped into 2″ pieces)
- 1/2 lb tofu (cubed)
Spices (for soup)
- 1 1/2 tbsp chicken bouillon
- 1 tbsp sake
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
- Mix chicken, onion, green onion, ginger, sake, soy sauce, katakuriko, sesame oil, and salt a bowl untill it thickens
- Add 5 cups of water, daikon, and carrot in a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium heat
- When the water begins to boil, add meatballs then boil for 3 minutes. Skim the top
- Add sake, soy sauce, chicken bullion, mix, then add spinach and bok choy. Cover and boil for 6 minutes on medium
- Add salt and tofu, and boil for 2 minutes
